Eric Karpas

Eric Karpas was an intern at Motu in 2010, coming to New Zealand as a third-year undergraduate in the Earth Systems Program at Stanford University.

At Motu Eric worked with Suzi Kerr and the environment team, studying forestry’s role in the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme and looking at the forestry sector’s preliminary responses to ETS policy.

What Eric had to say about his Motu internship: “Motu was an exciting, intellectually stimulating place to work that has been instrumental in my education and development as a researcher. This development has been strongly motivated by a vibrant and friendly community that is very passionate about its work and about each other. Due to the high quality of this community and to the high quality of its efforts, my experience at Motu has been simultaneously exciting, valuable, and unique.”
