Amelia joined Motu Research in July 2024 after working at the Human Rights Measurement Initiative, following the completion of her Master’s degree in Economics at Te Herenga Waka (Victoria University of Wellington). Her dissertation focused on the role of institutional and interpersonal trust in COVID-19 vaccination behaviour. Before this, she earned a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Economics and a Bachelor of Science with majors in Environmental Science and Geography.
At Motu, Amelia has worked with Arthur Grimes on the distributional effects of monetary policy and with Tadhg Ryan-Charleton, analysing the role of tax policy in promoting innovation among New Zealand firms. She is also researching the luxury art market to understand how it responds to socio-economic shocks.
Amelia enjoys all aspects of research but is especially interested in environmental economics, innovation/R&D, and economic history. In her spare time, she enjoys skateboarding, wing-foiling, and sharing a coffee and a scone with her little sister.
