Phoebe Taptiklis

Dr Phoebe Taptiklis joined Motu Research as a Fellow in 2021. She completed her PhD through Massey University in 2022 examining dampness and mould in relation to housing quality.

Phoebe has been studying New Zealand homes for over 10 years, with a particular focus on the drivers of indoor environmental conditions. Phoebe’s expertise lies in environmental sampling and developing statistical models which can explain the relationships within the measured phenomena.

Phoebe’s background in the construction industry, combined with her research skills in epidemiology and exposure assessment, contribute to a deeper understanding of housing in New Zealand, and her work has been influential in several regulatory changes driving better indoor conditions for New Zealanders, including the Healthy Homes Standards and the expansion of the Warmer Kiwi Homes programme.

Phoebe is committed to providing evidence on how we can continue improving New Zealander’s home environment.
